The ban on trading on Sundays makes it impossible to order employees to work at retail stores on Sundays. Attorney Wojciech Bigaj commented on the circumvention of this ban in the light of employee’s and employer’s rights for Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Our legal counsel explained that, under the existing laws, the employer may order employees to appear at work on the last day of the week if the store has the right to legally conduct business on Sundays and public holidays. Additionally, the expert from BKB referred to the duties of employees of retail networks. He pointed out that, pursuant to currently binding laws, the scope of their duties does not have to include tasks related to processing postal deliveries, even though they are employed in a work establishment that provides such services.
