Not every person in quarantine or isolation is exempt from work.
In the latest article, available in the special supplement to the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna “Ubezpieczenia i świadczenia”, attorney-at-law Kajetan Bartosiak discussed who and on what terms are entitled to social benefits due to being in quarantine or isolation. In his text, the expert from our Law Firm discussed in detail the legal definitions of quarantine, isolation and home isolation. Attorney-at-law Bartosiak explained how the Social Insurance Institution (Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych) may grant benefits to a person in quarantine who has only had contact with an infected person, but is not sick. The author also drew attention to the fact that sick people subject to isolation may not always refuse to work and receive benefits from ZUS, because coronavirus infection does not always mean temporary incapacity to work due to illness as defined in the Benefit Act.
