The European Directive on the protection of whistleblowers entered into force on December 17 2021. Although Poland has not adopted any related regulations yet, large employers, who employ more than 250 workers, have to comply with it. In two years’ time, this obligation will also become binding for smaller enterprises, with 50 – 250 employees.

In Puls Biznesu, Dr Beata Baran commented on the possibility of reporting irregularities anonymously. She emphasised that the Polish legislation authority, in the draft regulations, left the decision whether to accept or to reject anonymous reports, to the employers. As or expert pointed out, the possibility to file anonymous reports will encourage those employees who are afraid of being identified to report irregularities.
