Professor Andrzej Marian Świątkowski
Vice-President of the Social Rights Committee of the Council of Europe, professor of the Jagiellonian University, graduate of Law and Sociology at the Jagiellonian University and of the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia.
Member of the IOSS – International Organization of Labour Law and Social Security and the IIRA – International Industrial Relations Association and the Polish Association of European Law.
Expert at the European Union Commission for labour law. He is a member of the General Conferences of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) (2002-2005), and has spoken at conferences in Sydney, Helsinki, Dublin, Tokyo, Oslo, Vilnius, Leuven, Brussels, and Lima, and lectured at universities in Sydney, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Indiana, Leicester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, New York (Columbia University), Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Bologna, Rome (LUISS), Leuven, Gent, Bochum, Uppsala, Stockholm, Pecs, Prague (Charles University), Turku, and Helsinki.
He is head of the Department of Labour Law and Social Policy of the Jagiellonian University, and a Jean Monnet Professor in European labour law and social security. He is also national and international coordinator of Tempus/Erasmus programmes in European social security law.
He is the author of over 400 publications, including 30 books and monographs, commentaries, and textbooks on Polish, comparative, and international labour law, social security and social policies.
He is the editor of a series of publications and journals: Social Law of the European Union and the Council of Europe; Studies in Labour Law and Social Policy, The Jagiellonian University Yearbook of Labour Law and Social Policy, East West Review of Social Policy, Tilburg Foreign Law Review.
He conducts legal projects in Polish, English, and French.
